Number Story
Four worms were wiggling in the dirt. Then something happened. By the end of the night, there were five worms wiggling in the dirt.

1. Ask: How many worms were in the dirt at the beginning of the story?
Have your child place that many “worms” in the first section of the story mat.

2. Ask: How many worms were there at the end of the story?
Have your child place that many “worms” in the last section of the story mat.

3. Ask: What happened in the middle? Did the number of worms get bigger or smaller? How many more worms joined in the middle?
