Snap-Clap Patterns

  1. Demonstrate each pattern. Invite your child follow you. Say the pattern aloud as you do it.
    • Pattern #1: snap, clap, snap, clap, snap, clap
    • Pattern #2: snap, clap, clap, snap, clap, clap
  2. Point out the part that keeps repeating. This is called the “pattern core.” In Pattern #1, the core is snap, clap. In Pattern #2 the core is snap, clap, clap.
  3. Ask: How is Pattern #1 different from Pattern #2? How are they alike?
