Shape Puzzle

1. The middle column of the puzzle outline has been built. Ask: How many orange cubes do you see?
2. Point to the empty shaded columns to the left and right. Ask: How many cubes would you need to fill the shaded space on the left? How many cubes would you need to fill the shaded space on the right? How do you know? When the puzzle outline is completely filled with cubes, how many cubes will there be altogether? How do you know?
3. Have your child use six stick-on notes or paper squares to build the shape puzzle.
